Your brain is our business
Our coaching models are built on the cutting-edge neuroscience of emotions and relationships.
Manage your false alarms
The amygdala is the part of the brain that recognizes threats and triggers our threat response system (automatic reactions). In our ancestors, it initiated the fight-or-flight response in the face of predators and danger.
Today, the amygdala is mostly activated by the pressures of modern life, emotions, and working with others — like stress, fear, anxiety, aggression, or anger. Often our engrained, automatic reactions based on past experiences aren’t helpful. We call them emotional false alarms.
These false alarms happen to all of us and can prompt behaviors that lead to things like
lower employee engagement
higher turnover
poor communication
unhelpful response to change
unhealthy conflict
ineffective teamwork and collaboration
Convergent EQ coaching is designed to help people recognize their amygdala’s false alarms, and develop ways to control and adjust their responses in challenging situations.
Put your best thinking forward
The prefrontal cortex is responsible for reasoning, thinking, decision-making and planning (executive function). Its reactions aren’t automatic, they’re within your control. This part of the brain allows you to evaluate emotions and then wisely discern how to respond.
Maintaining healthy working relationships and top-performing work environments requires the rational part of the brain to stay engaged when automatic, emotional reactions jeopardize productivity and effectiveness. Convergent EQ helps leaders and teams keep their front-brain in charge with awareness and understanding of their reactions and behavior patterns.
Construct new neural pathways
Our brains’ capacity to adapt and renew—neuroplasticity—is incredible. Even though we all have automatic responses and habits when faced with specific stimuli and situations, undesirable neural pathways can be changed with coaching and practice.
Convergent EQ’s leadership coaching process provides methods and tools for building new, positive neural pathways and behavior patterns, reinforcing them, and using them to achieve positive results
